CALLING FOR KIDS
Thank you to everyone who donated to the Calling for Kids campaign. While we didn’t reach the $300,000 goal we were aiming for, we did raise $160,000. That money will train more teachers and provide more mentoring for teachers than the school district could afford on its own. It WILL make a difference in our children’s lives. If you left for spring break early and forgot to donate, you still can. Go to www.issaquahschoolsfoundation.org and click on the “Donate Now” button in the upper right hand corner.

TAKE A QUICK SURVEY ABOUT CALLING FOR KIDS
The Foundation wants your reaction to this year’s campaign. Go to: http://www.zoomerang.com/Survey/survey-intro.zgi?p=WEB227MYDCLPX5 to take a very quick online zoomerang survey and provide your feedback.

ISF’s Calling for Kids 2008 Campaign Will Help Fund Project GLAD
Issaquah Schools Foundation thanks the hundreds of parents who completed the survey on Calling for Kids funding priorities. After tallying and analyzing the results, the Foundation, working with the Issaquah School District, decided to make GLAD (Guided Language Acquisition Design) training the focus of Calling for Kids 2008. The Foundation is thrilled to embark on a fundraising mission that brings more powerful teaching strategies to our classrooms and provides enhanced opportunities for powerful student learning and achievement.

You can help cultivate great teachers and great schools by participating in this year’s Calling for Kids. The campaign is seeking a minimum of 1,500 donors with a suggested gift of $200 or more. Look for letters in the mail in February, or log on to www.issaquahschoolsfoundation.org now to find out more about GLAD and make your contribution. The campaign will conclude April 1st and 2nd with calls to families in the District who have not yet donated.

2008 Kateri Brow and Classroom Enrichment Grant Applications Available
Issaquah Schools Foundation is now accepting proposals for the Kateri Brow Big Idea/Biggest Need and Classroom Enrichment Grant programs. Parents…you are eligible to apply. If you have thoughts about creative programs that could benefit your student’s classroom, join forces with your school’s staff and submit your idea.

While both grant programs encourage continuous improvement in education, they differ in levels of support. Classroom Enrichment Grants fund projects with budgets of up to $1,000 and that focus on academic enrichment, struggling students and professional development. Grants awarded through Kateri Brow Big Idea/Biggest Need program range in amounts from $1,001 to $10,000. Additionally, Biggest Need Grants are aimed toward school needs that are not covered by building or district budgets and/or that support a school’s Continuous Improvement Plan. Big Idea Grants support educational innovation that benefits students and affirms the Issaquah School District Vision. Multi-year funding (up to three years) will be considered for Big Idea and Biggest Need Grants.

Applications for both grant programs are available at the ISF website, www.issaquahschoolsfoundation.org. Completed proposals are due February 1, 2008. For more information, or assistance with questions, please contact Randy Nevin at 425-392-3827 or rnevein@issaquahschoolsfoundation.org.
