Finding Kind screening at Skyline High School on January 31st and at Issaquah High School on February 1st. Both screenings are at 6:30 PM. This complimentary showing is made possible by the Issaquah Secondary School PTSA’s, the Issaquah Schools Foundation and Issaquah PTSA Council. Each showing will be followed by a facilitated discussion by the filmmakers, Lauren Parsekian and Molly Thompson.
These showings are for ISD Secondary students 11 years and older & their parents. Boys are encouraged to attend.
The post movie discussion is geared towards secondary students and is not appropriate for elementary students.
These showings are not open to the general public.
About the documentary:
In Finding Kind, filmmakers Lauren Parsekian and Molly Thompson, who met while in school at Pepperdine University, set out in a cross country journey of discovery and education. Interviewing women and girls along the way about their lives and experiences, Parsekian and Thompson find, among all of the unique personal stories, some universal truths about growing up as girls. Finding Kind is a document of that journey, and of the filmmakers’ quest to take these experiences and find a common ground of kindness and mutual respect. In addition to all of the individual girls and women who share their personal experiences about girl on girl bullying with the filmmakers, Parsekian and Thompson include interviews with respected experts and authors in the fields of psychology, education, and the interrelationships of women and girls.

Here is updated info about the Finding Kind presentation happening at both Skyline(1/31) & Issaquah HS (2/1) later this month.
Only grades 6-12 may attend the presentations. There will some very adult topic conversations happening afterward not appropriate for elementary students.
That being said, elementary students (5th graders only please) could benefit from the movie so there will be an elementary students (or 'young' middle schoolers) showing of Finding Kind. This showing will be Monday 1/30 at Beaver Lake Middle School (BLMS) starting at 5:30pm. There will be adults there to help facilitate the discussions after the movie. The movie itself is 77 minutes long.
At both Skyline & Issaquah showings, students will need to show their ASB cards or student IDs to enter. Due to expected large crowds these showings will not be open to the general public, only to ISD students/parents.
