VP Communications Job Description

The VP Communications job consists of four major functions and a lesser support function:
  • Attend regularly monthly BOD meetings as well as general meetings. Attending not only ensures information is communicated at the meetings, but it is also the ideal time to gather information to be communicated to the general membership. This is a three to five hour commitment per month (on average).
  • Create/writes Weekly E-News that goes out tagged onto the end of the PLMS Weekly Updates. These are culled from emails, notes, school website and any other resources that may have pertinent information to be shared in a timely manner. This process takes one hour weekly (on average).
  • Create/write Monthly PTSA Newsletter. This information is gathered in much the same way as above. A monthly reminder is sent out to Committee Chairs, Board Members and anyone else appropriate. Information is generally edited and cut and pasted from emails, etc. This is a three hour commitment per month (on average).
  • Website is maintained and updated. Basic functions include updating any forms, notes, minutes, news, etc. For higher level changes and questions, there is a “Webmaster” to assist. If done regularly, this process should only take one hour per week (on average).
  • As VP of Communications, ideally there would be some involvement and support of both PTSA and school related programs and events. Extent of the commitment is a personal choice.
